7 billion pounds of the chemical BPA are produced every year and used in all sorts of products. Things like clear plastic bottles and food-can liners. Studies show BPA can cause cancer, diabetes,...more and heart disease, but there aren't any federal restrictions yet on BPA in food packaging. Consumer Reports says a ban is necessary.
