The Richland volleyball team has crushed pretty much everyone in their path this year.
The Bombers only lost twice and those losses were to Mead, the number 1 team in 4A, and West Valley, the number 1 team in 3A.
So, its not a huge stretch to say that Richland was one of the favorites to win the...more state title this year.
The Bombers started their march towards the title on Thursday morning as they took on Skyview.
Richland won game 1.
But then the Storm woke up and caught fire.

Thanks to an abundance of good golf courses and the supposed 300 days of sunshine a year, our area is home to some good high school golfers.
And one of the best in the region has decided where he'll be going.
Hanford's Scott Kim will be playing golf at Oregon State next year.
Kim has had a lot...more of success in the state tournament during his high school career, finishing 11th as a freshman, 3rd as a sophomore, and this past Spring, he won the 3A state title.

Let's flash back to Wednesday's signings at Southridge.
While there were 4 athletes that signed, 2 of them had us all checking our eyes.

Twin brothers Ty and Bryce Jackson both signed with schools on Wednesday...they both signed to play baseball...and, just to cap off the theme, they both signed...more with Washington State.
Recruiting these guys wasn't some sort of package deal.
They're both very talented baseball players and had lots of interest.

The NWAACC soccer tournament got started on Wednesday.
The CBC men and Walla Walla women both won the East region, so they get a bye straight into the quarterfinals.
But the CBC women finished 2nd in the East, so they had to play a 1st round game.
That game was on Wednesday afternoon...it was at...more home...and it was against Highline.
The Timberwolves scored early in the 2nd half to take a 1-0 lead.
CBC responded with a goal with 12 minutes left in the game to tie things up at 1 and force...

A little history was made over at Chiawana on Wednesday afternoon.
Since this year's seniors are the first senior class at the school, that means Wednesday's signings were the first in Riverhawks history.
And, it was a good group that signed on Wednesday.
The Riverhawks soccer star, Erin...more Huisingh, signer her letter of intent with Concordia University.
The school also had 3 basketball players who signed.

For the last few years, Chelsey Bettinson has been a star for the Richland volleyball team.
There were a lot of colleges after her.
And now, she's made her decision about where she'll be playing next year.
On Wednesday morning, Bettinson signed with Washington State.
She has been a force for...more the Bombers during her career and this year, it was capped off by being named Big Nine 4A player of the year.

For one week in early November, most high school athletes, with the exception of football players, have a chance to make an early commitment to a college.
That early signing period got started on Wednesday and many of our local stars jumped at the chance to sign on the dotted line.
Over at...more Southridge, the Suns had a great group of kids sign their letters of intent.
The Suns had 4 signees and they're all going to major D-1 schools.

There were some big high school football games on Tuesday night.
In the CWAC, the top team is guaranteed a state berth, while the 2nd and 3rd place teams have to earn their trip to state.
Prosser won the regular season title and they've got the week off to get ready for their first round...more game.
Othello ended up in the 3rd spot.
So, on Tuesday night, they headed up to Deer Park to play a state qualifying game.
And it was a good night for the Huskies.

The Kamiakin football team has made it back to the state tournament for the 2nd straight year and they've done it thanks to a great season from their quarterback.
But, just getting back on the field was all Joey Jansen really wanted to do this year.
The Kamiakin Braves have been flat out dominant...more this year -- going undefeated and putting up over 400 points in ten games.
Leading this Goliath of an offense has been a senior quarterback who fits more the roll of David.

It was a busy Thursday night in the Mid-Columbia as several teams wrapped up the regular season!
